Challenge

To build from scratch a Saas platform that delivers a sales pipeline analytics tool.  The tool needed to integrate with a multitude of CRM’s, ingest sales data and display the data in a way that is easily understandable and editable.  In addition we needed to present a multitude of reports that help clients get actionable insights from their sales data.

Solution

To provide a full SDLC solution starting from full rapid prototyping and definition of Business Rules, through Build, QA and delivery of an MVP to support of a lengthy product roadmap.  We did this using _ a hybrid agile framework(?) with a dedicated team of design, development, management and QA personnel. 

Build

As is one of our principals we tried to use technologies that gave us a head start.  One of those was ag-grid that provided the basis of the data display and provided a number of ways of replicating excel functionality on the web including filtering, sorting, grouping etc. The initial build took 4.5 months to deliver the MVP.

We were also responsible for the marketing site that accompanied and sold the app.

Integration

  • We ended up integrating with a large number of market leading CRMS so built adaptors for each (Hubspot, zoho, pipedrive, freshsales) so that we could be on their respective marketplaces
  • Payment gateway integration with Stripe and managed by Chargebee
  • BI integration for reports such as Power BI as well as csv and google sheet import..

Approach

Our approach was hybrid in which we set a benchmark for the deliverable at the start using an interactive prototype and business rules and then worked in an agile way during development so that we could react to changes that made sense once the product was actually being played with.

Given the start up nature of the business we offered a Build Operate Transfer model for this project.

Isomorphic tech stack using react.js, redux, node.js, D3.js, ag-grid database was postgreSQL plus a flattened instance for reporting through ElasticSearch(not sure about this)

2.5 years but 4.5 months for delivery of the MVP

Outcome

We delivered a successful SaaS product that features on a number of CRM’s Marketplaces, has been picked up by the press and now runs profitably.
