Do you remember the Google+ social networking app working on all platforms, web, iOS and Android? The main aim of this app was relatively clear: connect people with their friends, family members, neighbors, coworkers, etc. The project started in 2011. In the meantime, Facebook already took a vast part of the social media market. Entering on stage should be easy for such a giant like Google, but it didn't happen at all. Google+ was closed in 2019. What happened?
Google made a few crucial mistakes while developing this product. First of all, there was no unique value for the users, it was too similar to competitors, and the algorithm didn't show users the content they wanted to see. I remember Google+ well, and when I am asking myself, What was the unique value proposition of it? Honestly, I don't know. For me, it was just a combination of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. No doubt, other users didn't see the purpose of using it.
