Flexibility almost always comes with a price. Having the possibility to manage every tiny bit of the stack also means that you have to manage it (even 24/7) or build (and maintain) automation to manage it for you.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A modern PaaS should still give you some flexibility (especially when it comes to decisions around your application stack and preventing vendor lock-in) while at the same time abstracting the tedious day to day tasks away from you (infra setup, security updates, etc.).&nbsp;
